These cutters are powerful enough to shear rock (of different grades of hardness) and penetrate deep into various formations. In addition, many sintered studs made of polycrystalline diamonds are added to the matrix to increase the drilling speed and prolong the lifespan of the drill bit. Effective hydraulic cooling also helps to keep the hole neat and clean while keeping the drilling bit cool during operation. These bits are also used to work on sandstone because they provide a strong shearing force at a significantly higher speed than other kinds of bits.
